Best-Selling Japanese Jazz Pianist

Senri Oe to hold events In Honolulu
to benefit children impacted by Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami

Special guest performances by Japanese singer Junko Yagami
and ukulele artist Herb Otah Jr.
Senri Oe is a best-selling Sony Music recording artist who first hit the Japanese music scene as a lyricist, composer and arranger in 1983.  Well-known in Japan as a pop artist and actor, Oe made the transition to a jazz pianist in 2008.  He now resides in New York City where he performs at famous jazz venues such as Tomi Jazz, Zinc Bar, SOB, and Blue Note.

Major Japanese pop artist and jazz pianist Senri Oe will hold two benefit events in Honolulu on Saturday, May 3, 2014, in honor of the third anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. All proceeds will go to Rainbow For Japan Kids, a Hawaii non-profit that provides aid and support to children orphaned or negatively impacted by the earthquake and tsunami.

Scheduled to make a guest appearances at both events is popular Japanese recording artist Junko Yagami and multi-award winning ukulele musician Herb Otah, Jr. Yagami is well known in Japan for her hit songs Mizuiro No Ame and Purple Town. Hawaii’s own Otah is an ukulele recording artist, world-touring performer and teacher.

Event Information

Proceeds will benefit Rainbow for Japan Kids. Managed by Hawaii Senior Life Enrichment Association established as a non-profit under 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
